Latoya Jasmine Lucille van der Meeren was born in Geldrop, The Netherlands. She moved to Amsterdam in 2006 where she met her first muse, who triggered her interest in photography. This was the start of an autodidact journey in capturing diary images close to her life and heart.
In addition to her work as a fine arts photographer and diarist, van der Meeren works as an Art Director at Dutch newspaper ‘de Volkskrant’. In addition she directed multiple music video’s over the past years.
Her book ‘Remainders’ is a collection of 50 stories on the marks a life makes on and in the human body, it is available through Gallery ‘Vriend van Bavink’ in Amsterdam.
In May 2023 she won the SDN Award of Excelence for her photo series on miscarriages and grief in Volkskrant Magazine 9 published October 2022)
Latoya and her daughter Miki currently live in Zaandam, The Netherlands
